From 1990s Dated to Modern Day Spa: A Traverse City Bathroom Transformation

For many homeowners, the master bathroom is a space that starts and ends the day. But what happens when that space is stuck in a different decade? That was the challenge our client, Theresa Miles, faced with her 1990s-era bathroom in Traverse City.

She was searching for one of the best bathroom remodelers in the area to bring her vision of a modern, luxurious retreat to life, and we were thrilled to partner with her.

"We love our new bathroom! Our team ( Randy, Conner) worked tirelessly to meet our timelines and expectations of quality. Mostly a seamless experience, aside from a few snags with materials. We are happy with the outcome and love using our master bath. Thanks to Talal for his guidance and timely communications."

The "Before": A Step Back in Time

The original space featured many hallmarks of the 1990s: dated floor tiles with accent pieces, a bulky corner jetted tub, and a standard plastic shower insert. While functional, the space felt heavy and was no longer serving the client's needs. It was clear this bathroom renovation in Traverse City, MI was overdue.

The "After": A Stunning Traverse City Transformation

As a dedicated bathroom remodeling contractor, our goal was a complete overhaul. This Community Construction remodel focused on clean lines, modern materials, and spa-like comfort.

Wondering who are the best bathroom remodelers in Traverse City? We let our craftsmanship answer that question. Here is how we executed this stunning bathroom design:

  • Heated Ceramic Tile Flooring: We replaced the dated floor with beautiful, large-format ceramic tile flooring. The hidden gem? An underfloor heating system providing ultimate comfort—a rapidly growing trend for heated bathroom floors in Northern Michigan.
  • Custom Palisade Walk-In Shower: The cramped plastic shower is gone! In its place stands a gorgeous walk-in shower installation (Michigan style!) featuring waterproof Palisade wall tiles. This shower remodel is a perfect example of modern design that is easy to clean.
  • Elegant Freestanding Tub: We removed the bulky built-in tub, instantly opening up the room. A modern, stand-alone soaking tub now serves as a stunning centerpiece for relaxation.
  • Granite Vanity & Modern Fixtures: The area was upgraded with a clean, durable granite countertop, new sinks, and contemporary brushed gold faucets. This is one of our favorite bathroom vanities to date. Upgrading the vanity is a key solution for any bathroom renovation, even if you are just looking for small bathroom ideas or planning a small bathroom remodel.

Common Questions About Bathroom Remodeling in Traverse City

How much does a bathroom remodel cost in Traverse City?

Bathroom remodel costs vary widely based on scope and materials. A simple "pull-and-replace" is more affordable, whereas a luxury renovation—like the Miles project with heated floors and structural changes—is an investment in your home's value. Contact us for a free detailed estimate.

Are heated bathroom floors worth it in Michigan?

Absolutely. In Northern Michigan, heated bathroom floors are one of the highest-rated upgrades for homeowner satisfaction. They provide energy-efficient warmth that radiates up, keeping your feet warm even during the coldest Traverse City winters.

What are the benefits of Palisade wall tiles for showers?

We love using Palisade waterproof wall tiles for shower remodels because they offer the luxurious look of natural stone without the maintenance. They are grout-free, meaning no scrubbing moldy grout lines, and they are 100% waterproof, ensuring your walls stay protected.

How long does a bathroom renovation take?

While timelines vary, a typical full bath remodel takes between 3 to 5 weeks. We pride ourselves on efficient project management (as mentioned in Theresa's review!) to minimize disruption to your daily life.
